Diamond Shelters is manufactured by Dueck's Mechanical Inc. in Whitemouth, Manitoba. They've been designing and building fabric-covered steel structures for over 35 years. The catalogue covers clear-span widths from 15 feet through 160 feet, in any length you need, with 12oz polyethylene-impregnated fabric available in multiple colours. They have an extensive dealer network across Canada and the US, ship complete setup instructions with every kit, and have technical support staff that actually answers the phone.

None of that replaces a crew with manlifts on your site. Diamond's dealer network is broad but not every dealer offers installation, and on the larger sizes — 40-wide and up — even competent owner-builders struggle without the right equipment. Can I install a Diamond Shelter myself with the included instructions?

Honest answer: it depends on size.

• 15-, 20-, 30-wide: yes, with a competent helper or two and a weekend. Diamond's documentation is clear, the kit ships well-organized, and tech support answers the phone if you get stuck. We've seen plenty of solid owner-installs at these sizes.
• 40-wide: borderline. The trusses are heavy enough that a manlift is mandatory, and the cover deploy needs three people on the ground plus a lift simultaneously. If you don't have the equipment — and most owner-builders don't — you're paying to rent it for 3+ days, which closes the gap to our flat install rate. At that point the math usually favours the crew.
• 50-wide and up: get a crew. The truss assemblies are heavy and the cover deploy at this scale isn't a DIY job, even for skilled tradespeople without fabric-shelter experience.

How wide can a Diamond Shelter actually go?

Up to 160 feet clear span. That's larger than most fabric brands offer. We've installed Diamond up to 80 feet wide ourselves; the 100, 120, and 160-wide commercial structures are still in Diamond's catalogue and we'll install them, but we plan a longer crew window, more equipment, and usually a multi-pass cover-deploy strategy. At 100-wide and above you're in commercial-warehouse territory — the install starts looking more like a steel-building project than a fabric-shelter project, and the engineering review on the foundation gets more careful.

What slows us down on Diamond installs?

Honestly, not much. Diamond is one of the more straightforward kits we install. Two minor things show up:

1. Cover sized at slightly looser tolerances. Diamond's PE fabric runs a touch looser than premium brands like Cover-Tech. We tension a hair tighter than spec on Diamond covers to keep the panels from flapping in Prairie wind. Not a fault — just a calibration.
2. Dealer-supplied hardware varies. Diamond's hardware quality is good direct from the factory, but kits passing through some dealers arrive with substituted hardware or repacked bags. We carry a backup hardware tray and substitute on the spot when needed.

How much does professional installation cost for a Diamond Shelter?

Flat rate by size — same as every other brand. Common Diamond sizes:

Base installation covers crew assembly of the frame, cover installation and tensioning, and anchoring to the agreed prepared base. Equipment rentals, travel, and lodging are assessed separately after discussing your project. The kit, site preparation, foundations, and permits are separate.

What should I have ready before install day?

• Pad: level, compacted gravel sized to footprint plus a 2-foot working perimeter.
• Anchoring decision: confirmed in advance. Diamond's frames work fine with concrete piers, helical piles, or compacted-gravel ground anchors depending on your soil.
• Crate opened and inventoried: a parts count before crew day catches any dealer-supply gaps.
• Access: 1-ton truck plus a manlift on anything 40-wide and up.
