Their Canadian models are spec'd specifically for our climate: 1.8 kN/m² snow load, 0.2 kN/m² wind, and frame steel selected for cold-weather brittle-fracture margins rather than the warmer-climate spec the US models inherit.

What models does Chery Industrial sell, and how do they install differently?

• Basic Storage Shelter — 5-foot arc spacing, single truss. Entry-level. Lighter frame, looser arc spacing, PE or thinner-PVC cover depending on configuration. Fast to put up and easy to handle, but flexes more in heavy wind. Best for occasional storage in moderate climates, or as a temporary shelter while you save for the next tier.
• Basic+ Storage Shelter — 4-foot arc spacing, single truss. Same overall format but with arches every 4 feet instead of 5. Roughly 20–25% more frame work per linear foot for our crew, but the structure is noticeably stiffer once it's up. For Prairie applications we recommend Basic+ over Basic when the budget allows.
• Double-Truss Round M — premium, double-truss. Heavier frame, tighter arc spacing, heavier cover, snow-rated to 1.8 kN/m². The serious option in Chery's lineup, and the one most of our Chery installs are these days. Treats Prairie weather honestly.
• Container Shelters — twist-lock to sea cans. The genuine differentiator in Chery's catalogue. Mounts to two parallel shipping containers using ISO twist-lock fittings — no welding, no concrete, no permanent ground anchoring required. Useful for temporary commercial sites, oilfield work, or any situation where you want the shelter to come down again later.

What's the install difference between 4-foot and 5-foot arc spacing?

This is the single most underestimated spec on Chery's catalogue. Tighter arc spacing means more arches per linear foot, which means more frame assembly time on install day. We add roughly 20–25% to the frame-assembly portion of a Basic+ build versus a same-size Basic. The cover deploy itself is the same — same panel, same tensioning. So a 30'×40' Basic might be a 1.5-day build while a 30'×40' Basic+ is a solid 2-day build.

Where the spacing pays off is in service life. Tighter arcs share wind and snow loading across more attachment points. The Basic+ flexes less in 70 km/h gusts and pools snow less aggressively in heavy wet snow events. Over a 10-year lifespan the cover lasts longer and the frame welds see less cyclic stress. If your application is going to spend a winter in a wind corridor, the extra frame work on install day is the cheapest insurance you'll buy.

How much does professional installation cost for a Chery Industrial building?

Flat rate by size — same as every other brand. Common Chery / Gold Mountain sizes:

Base installation covers crew assembly of the frame, cover installation and tensioning, and anchoring to the agreed prepared base. Equipment rentals, travel, and lodging are assessed separately after discussing your project. The kit, site preparation, foundations, and permits are separate.

What slows us down on Chery Industrial installs?

1. Roll-up door alignment. The mechanical roll-up doors with hand winches are functional but the door frame has to be square within tighter tolerances than the rest of the build allows. We adjust the door frame after the cover is on, before final tensioning. Skip that step and the door binds within a season.
2. Cover-weight variation between models. Chery offers PE on Basic, heavier PVC on Basic+ and Round M. Same brand, very different cover handling. Our crew confirms which spec actually shipped on your kit before tensioning, because over-tensioning a PE cover and under-tensioning a PVC cover both cause failures we'd otherwise prevent.

Can I install a Chery container shelter myself?

The twist-lock onto sea cans is the genuine engineering advantage in Chery's catalogue — no welding, no concrete, no permanent ground anchoring. For 20- and 30-wide container shelters mounted onto a pair of 40-foot containers, two competent helpers and a long weekend can do it, provided two things are true: your containers are level to each other within roughly an inch over the length of the shelter, and you have crane or telehandler access during the cover deploy step.

For 40-wide and up, get a crew. Working on top of containers during cover tensioning has a different geometry than working from the ground — the access angles, the safety margins, and the synchronization required across multiple workers all change. We've done dozens of these and we still take the safety brief seriously every time.

• Pad: level, compacted gravel sized to footprint plus 2-foot working perimeter. For container shelters, two parallel containers level to each other within an inch.
• Anchoring decision: confirmed in advance for ground-mounted models. Concrete piers, helical piles, or compacted-gravel anchors all work — pick what suits your soil.
• Crate opened and inventoried: a parts count two days ahead. Confirms whether the kit shipped Basic vs Basic+ spec — sometimes the labels and the contents disagree.
• Cover-spec confirmation: PE or PVC, 420g or 450g. Determines tensioning protocol on day one.
• Access: 1-ton truck, manlift on 40-wide and up, crane or telehandler for container shelter installs.
