Read the cover column carefully, because it decides this comparison at 40 feet wide: UW's 40-wide standard cover is 14.5 oz (~492 g/m²) at a start price essentially tied with MSB's 40×80 — where MSB ships 750 g/m² standard. At 70 feet wide it flips: UW's 26.5 oz (~899 g/m²) standard cover is heavier than MSB's, and UW's start price is about 12% above MSB's 70×100.
Hardware consistency separates these two more than frame spec does. MSB kits arrive complete over 98% of the time in our experience, with grade-rated fasteners and permit-ready documentation. UW kits run short a handful of fasteners on roughly 10–20% of installs — spare-bin territory, not project-stopping — and the paperwork gap that actually bites owners is the cover tier: we've unpacked crates holding 14.5 oz covers for owners who believed they'd bought 22 oz. On any UW invoice, the ounce weight should be a written line item.
On the frame, both carry legitimately good coatings — MSB's G90 and UW's hot-dip are both above the electro-galvanized budget tier, and we've seen both hold square over time. The install-day differences: MSB's heavier steel wants impact tools and a disciplined tensioning sequence, and its 750-gram cover stiffens below -25°C on winter builds. UW's recurring substitution is anchors — some models spec shallower than the 4-foot frost depth Prairie ground requires, so we drive to 4 feet regardless of the sheet.
Pick MSB if warranty paper matters to you — 12 published years against terms UW doesn't publish at all is the single starkest row in the table — if you're buying a 40-wide (where MSB's standard cover is substantially heavier at a tied price), or if you want the same 750 g/m² spec on every size without navigating cover-tier upgrade menus. Customization beyond the 18 catalogue sizes is available on request.
Pick Uncle Wiener's if the in-store experience is doing real work for you — seeing a standing building, asking questions face to face, hauling sooner from local stock — or if you want the 26.5 oz heavy cover at 70 feet wide, which genuinely out-weighs MSB's standard spec at that size. UW's 30-wide with its 22.5 oz standard cover is also a fair, competitive buy at its start price.

By width. MSB ships 750 g/m² PVC on every size. UW's 30-wide standard (22.5 oz ≈ 763 g/m²) is essentially equivalent, its 40-wide standard (14.5 oz ≈ 492 g/m²) is substantially lighter, and its 26.5 oz tier (≈ 899 g/m²) — standard on the 70-wide — is heavier than MSB's spec. If you buy UW, confirm the exact ounce weight for your width in writing.
MSB publishes 12 years on frame and cover. Uncle Wiener's publishes no warranty terms on its product pages at time of research — buyers need to request them in writing before purchase. That doesn't mean UW's terms are bad; it means you can't compare them from your couch, and on a $20,000–$60,000 purchase, unwritten terms are a real gap.
